Admission Requirements

Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike offers a four year programme for a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology and Environmental Biology.

UTME

Admission requirements for UTME candidates into the B.Sc (Hons) degree programme in Zoology and Environmental Biology is a minimum of five (5) credit passes in West African Senior Secondary School Certificate (WASC), General Certificate of Education (GCE) or the Nigerian Examination Council (NECO) Ordinary Level at not more than  two sittings. The credit passes must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at least.  A pass in JAMB UTME or pre-degree of the university that meets the Departmental cut-off mark, as determined by the University and Post UTME screening test are very essential.

Direct Entry

Direct Entry candidates:  Direct entry admission is based on a combination of ‘O’ Level results with the following qualifications:

HND, OND and NCE (Upper Credit)

The direct entry candidates are admitted into 200 level.

  • Programme/Sub-discipline/Discipline Structure to include period of formal studies in the Universities Industrial Training, planned visit and Projects:

The Department runs a four-year programme (UTME) or 3 years (Direct Entry). Period of formal studies include two semesters each of fourteen weeks per semester for a session, Industrial training of six months in relevant industries, research institutes. At least two supervisory visits are organized by the students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) Unit of the University. Technical report are written and submitted at the end of the SIWES programme and post SIWES seminar presented by students after the SIWES programme.
