The Bachelor of Zoology and environmental Biology degree programme in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike specializes in the development and production of highly trained professionals with profound, designed skills with both theoretical and practical academic background to cope with challenges of self-reliance, and also be of great value to awide range of global public. To this point, the curriculum is designed to inculcate sound teaching and research in basic sciences, information/communication technology in students with integrity and expertise. To also provide the necessary mental and physical resources for the scientific solution of the Nations needs of material goods, services and the other local and global scientific problems. In addition to this, the study of Zoology and Environmental Biology in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike is with special attention to the areas of sciences, Parasitology, Entomology, Ecology, Environmental Biology, Fisheries and Aquaculture, conservation of natural resources, Ecotoxicoloy, Physiology, hydrobiology and also biotechnology.

The essence of this is to adopt effective techniques of instruction through intensive lectures, laboratory practicals, tutorials, workshops, thereby exposing the students to scientific practices and other sectors, through Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).The Department offers courses of instruction to students of agriculture, physical, biological sciences, basic veterinary medicine, engineering, and science education at undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
